Plextor is going to release a DVD-Recoder, PX-504A. For more information and specs plese check their site. Here's the link. It features PowerRec (warning, PDF ahead), Plextor's optimized writing error reduction control. :)
Posted by ParaKnowYa at January 26, 2003 11:25 AMOnly thing that kills this DVD is the lack of DVD-R (minus R) support. DVDR that don't support both standards aren't worth the time or money. ;)
Posted by: amdhunter on January 27, 2003 04:31 AMTrue, however if quality is good and you mainly need it for own backups then it's nice to see Plextor is available with a DVD drive too. Maybe I should've note that though... :)
Posted by: ParaKnowYa on January 27, 2003 11:37 AMLOLOL, I guess it depends on what your backing up. This would probably be a great drive for the masses.
Posted by: amdhunter on January 28, 2003 08:36 PMok then what DVD write do you recommend - that has the dvd minus r ans well as plus r and rw
Posted by: Crazyman on March 12, 2003 09:03 AMI give DVD-R about six months to live, then its going to die on its arse! All the big boys including Micro$oft, Richo, Philips, and sony have gone for their own DVD+R standard coz they dont what to cough-up the royalties to the DVD Forum! LossLessLinking Means its much better for video anyway. SO NOW U KNOW ;)
Posted by: The Dr. on April 11, 2003 01:45 AMHi The Dr. and thanks a lot for the feedback. As mentioned before I think it depends on what you need the DVD burning for. If you backup, no need to check the type! That's my opinion... =)
